I’m referring to offering rewards to induce behavior. See a cart driver dangling a carrot in front of a mule. The mule moves towards the carrot because it wants the food, thus moving the cart. What’s wrong with that picture? The mule doesn’t care about what’s on the cart or where it’s going. It just wants the carrot, give it to him and he stops moving. If this is your team they may be well-trained but they are NOT empowered.
